Herbal Mother

Mugwort • Bylica pospolita

Artemisia vulgaris

Mugwort was a very important plant in a Folklore tradition.

In Eastern Europe people called her an “herbal mother”. They used her for woman’s health, for fertility or during labor. She was suppose to bring love to young maidens and protect all mothers.

Besides medicinal properties, mugwort had a lot of magical properties as well. People in Folk tradition used this plant as a smudge to protect themselves, their animals and houses from all evil that existed.

On Summer Solstice young girls made flower crowns from Mugwort and sent them floating on the lake with a candle inside with hopes for a future husband.

This plant is one of my favorite plants. I put it under my pillow for vivid dreams, I smudge my house with it and I drink some tea for journey to the unknown.

The most potent dream plant.
